It's almost summer and chances are you're thinking about how your bod is gonna look in those cute new swimmies you just bought, but before you slash the calories and up the cardio think about how you want to look and feel a year from now. Two years? Ten?
The answer probably isn't hungry and defeated. But if you start the cycle of crash dieting now I guarantee that's where you'll find yourself. Trust me, I've been there.
#1 Dieting Mistake
The biggest mistake I see people make when they want to lose weight is to drop calories excessively and basically stop eating while at the same time doing hours of cardio. Could this strategy work? Well let's define "work" shall we: if losing loads of muscle and maybe a little bit of fat and plummeting your metabolism into a black hole sounds like working then sure - it'll work.
But if sustainable fat loss while building strength and preserving muscle mass for a happy, healthy body sounds better then I urge you not to make this mistake.
The truth about nutrition is that quick fixes and crash diets never work. Even if they seem like they're working, the "results" aren't real or long term. Not to mention the skewed relationship with food. Anyone who tells you otherwise is either uneducated on the topic or trying to sell you something.
The SWS Strategy
My goal for all of my girls is to get them losing fat while eating more and doing less cardio than they ever expected. A lot of my clients only get cardio twice a week and it's always something fun like HIIT training, circuits, or walking/biking/running outside depending on their preference. And most of them are shocked by the amount of food I tell them to eat!
Bottom line ladies, do not be afraid to eat. Your body needs food for energy, muscle preservation, and just about everything else it does. Check out my latest instagram video here for some extra help when it comes to what and how much you should be eating to lose fat.
