Super Bowl Snacks

This year, more than ever before, most of us will probably be watching the Super Bowl at home. But before you pick up that phone and order pizza, consider choosing some lighter options that are quick and easy to serve up this Sunday.

Here are 5 healthy snacks you could make for your football watch party:

1. Guacamole

Guac isn't extra if you make it yourself! The easiest recipe ever. Just mash up two avocados and mix with a little red pepper flakes, chili powder, lime juice, and sea salt. Delish!

2. Charcuterie

Another easy snack option: make a quick charcuterie board. All you need is some cheeses, crackers, and deli meats. Then add in the other options you'd like: grapes, nuts, jams, and olives are some of my personal favorites.

3. Buffalo Chicken or Cauliflower Bites

Cauliflower for the vegans/vegetarians and chicken for the eat-anything-atarians. Cut your cauliflower or chicken in slices/nuggets and coat with olive oil spray. Dunk into a mix of buffalo and 1 raw egg (or just buffalo for vegan). Throw into the air fryer (or oven) at 400 for 15-20 minutes until cooked thoroughly. Enjoy with some lite ranch dip!

4. Low-Carb Quesadillas

Grab some low carb tortillas and low fat Mexican cheese at the grocery and you're basically already done. I like to toast my tortilla on the stove, add the cheese in the middle, and top with another tortilla. Flip and toast the other side and voila! Top with shredded lettuce, lite sour cream, salsa, beans, or anything else your heart desires. Need more protein? Cook up some chicken and add with cheese to the middle of the quesadilla.

5. Pepper Pizzas

Also healthy, also delicious. Grab some bell peppers and slice in half, removing the core and seeds. Fill with fresh shredded low-skim mozzarella and maybe some ricotta or feta if you're feeling cheesy. Add any toppings your heart desires: olives, spinach, pepperoni, salami, mushrooms, you name it! Cook at 400 for 10-12 minutes and then finish off with a quick broil to crisp up the cheese a little.
